Shira with the mic!  Reel Recovery Film Festival

When the opportunity presented itself to interview and meet with the world's leading experts, family and friends of those battling addiction, and my heroes that I affectionately refer to as Recovery Rock Stars, I am even more motivated and inspired as they share their efforts with the world on The Addiction Show.

I also am a master sober/recovery coach that focuses on evidence based, non 12 step alternatives, and get to work in collaboration with some pretty amazing people.  In addition, I attend the University of San Francisco full time studying to be a psychotherapist.

The moral of the story is one that closely resembles Glinda, the good witch in The Wizard of Oz, "I knew you had it in you."   We all do.  We just need to be reminded from time to time.

I got my start in the world of addiction late in life, and into recovery even later.  When I realized people would benefit not from my drunkalogues but zealous endurance, determination, and experiential knowledge, I was off and running.  Since then, I have been getting my hands on as many resources as I can wanting to share and SHARE I AM!

Discovering all of the amazing experts, organizations, dedicated loved ones, and those finding their way, I created a place to share their research, resources, community, and VOICE.  I am so grateful that I have this forum because it really opened up a whole new world for me.  I found a way to pay it forward.  Now, in recovery, I believe in myself and work with others until they believe in themselves too.

People who haven't seen the show sometimes ask me what the show is about or how it began. So here ya go...

I was doing a lot of research and kept coming across pretty amazing resources and people. I wanted to share them, alternatives specifically, with those interested in the areas of addiction, recovery and help destigmatize it by talking about it.  Since I had a laptop, and some serious chuzpah, I decided to embark on a journey where I interact with those that inspire and that I adore.  The Addiction Show was born.   It is a show that has me as a host: raw, unscripted, (and obviously unedited) on  some Fridays, interviewing the people I have come to admire.
